On the Move

On the Move

If you are native to Prince George, you will know that winter is NOT the time of year to consider a move. After all, who would want to be loading up a moving truck in -23C, unless you have hired help?

Not me I can assure you!

But, as we near the end of February, we start to notice the “warmer” weather. You know, those days where it is not in the double digits below zero. And alas, it begins to feel like spring is just around the corner.

With that, folks begin to emerge from their cozy wood-heated homes and the real estate market once again begins to hum. New construction starts to once again get underway and people are on Kijiji and Craigslist looking for new places to call home.

And then the packing begins.

If you are all too familiar with the moving process, you know that along with locating a new place to call home, whether buying or renting and all the packing that comes along with that there is still that one thing, called cleaning that needs to get done.  Not to mention decluttering, especially if you have been in your current home for a while.

I can assure you, I have done a move or two, and by the time you have secured a place, spent what can be weeks collecting moving boxes, doing the packing and organizing, then the endless purging and decluttering of items you no longer need, that day finally comes – moving day. And, if you are like me, you have a schedule of how that day is going to run. Up at 6:00 am to get the last little details finished before the truck and friends or hired help arrives, try to scrape together a breakfast from what is left in the fridge, then get ready to orchestrate the rest of the big day so it goes off without a hitch.

Does any of this sound familiar?

You and I both know that day rarely goes completely according to plan. What normally ends up happening is that the truck and friends arrive late, everyone wants to stop and take a break and the day zips by, and before you know it the time comes where you are supposed to have vacated your unit. But wait, the cleaning still needs to happen. Who wants to be cleaning after all that packing and moving?

Not me! And I can bet not you either.

What if there was another way? Well, I can tell you there is!
